The Ogline sisters were born on their parents' farm in Lincoln Township, Somerset County, Pa. The two older sisters, Fern and Katharyn, attended Millersville State Normal School in the early 1920's, with Fern graduating in 1923 and Katharyn completing her program of study a year later. The younger sisters, Alice and Helen, attended Millersville State Teachers College full-time from 1933 to 1935, then part-time until each completed her degree. Alice graduated in 1941, Helen in 1942.
